A bunch of things are going on.

I'm working like crazy at work and I have start school again (Spring Quarter)

This time I've decided to take two classes. The first one is Portfolio Development, which is really neat.

The second one, (which I am most excited about.) is Children's Storybook Illustrations. The first class was crazy, so much homework. By next Thursday I have to have a story created, A thumbnail story board and the main characters draw out.

I had no idea what to do for a story. So Shannon and I thought about it and decided to do Fluff, a monkey that we have. (Some of you will remember him at the wedding. He was the groom monkey.) And his friends take a trip to Toronto. A sheep, a micro-lion and a catipillar that refuses to turn into a butterfly just because the "Man" said he had to. They go all over Toronto having fun and seeing the sights.

Speaking of Toronto. . . I get to take a training class up there in March 7-9. I going to stay over and spend sometime there. Maybe get some photographs and neat stuff like that. The training class is a testing certification class. You take the test at the end of the class so you leave with your certification. It will be fun, but I will be all by myself. No one from work is going with me. One of my testing partners, (another Heather.) is going to go to Chicago for that class. But that is in June.

Oh! Ideas for my art class. . . I'm going to try and work with some paints to see if I can get some more art for my portfolio. I have an idea for a night scene. I also have some ideas for a clothing line that I want to mess around with. If I can do one of those and wear it around. I can see if people like it. :)

I'm still excited.

That is all for now. I will post pictures when I get a chance.

Love to all.

My Date. . .

I wanted to share with you that I went on a date on Saturday. It was really neat.

It was with this really cool, and handsome guy. His name is name is Cody. I liked him so much he even met my mom, on the first date. Ok... I guess I had better tell the truth. Cody is someone I met at work, well at least through work. Well that is part of the truth. Cody is actually my boss's 5 year old son. :P (Ha! Had you going didn't I.)

It started out a few months back when the team went out to dinner at Red Robin. And Lee, my boss brought his family. (Mindy, Cody, and Jacob) Cody sat across from my and by the end of the evening he had asked me out. It went something like this. . ."Maybe sometime, if dad gives you of work maybe you and I could go see a movie." :) Isn't that sooooo cute. Every one at work joked about it for days. "So Marianne can I buy you a chocolate milk." LOL.

So fast forward to this Saturday. Cody and I had our big date. It was really cool. We went to see Chicken Little and before hand we swung by mom's store for Story time. They were reading Spot the Dog books and then Spot the dog came for a visit. He was really nice.

As you can see from the picture Jacob, Cody's little brother was none too happy with a 5 foot dog. If you look in the lower left hand corner you can see Lee. (Laughing at his child's trauma.) They also met mom, who thought Cody was so cute. She told all her co-workers about Cody and I. After the movie when I stopped back by to see her every co-worker I ran into said something. . . "How was your date?" or "He sure was cute.'

After story time we went to Max and Erma's for some Mac and Cheese. Cody noted "That we both got Mac and Cheese and fruit cups." My friend Jenn was there, so she got to meet Cody too. She too thought he was the handsomest 5 year old she had seen in a long time. : ) Cody drew a series of Roads and cars on the place mat he was give while Jacob tore his in half. At lunch I learned that Cody is in a class with his dad called. "Getting messy with Dad" It sounds like a great class. The kids and dads play with clay and paint and all sorts of messy stuff. (Sounds like something you and Alex would really get into, Will.)

After that we went to the movie. We both got kid's packs (Small popcorn, small drink and a candy) with Lemonade. We saw Chicken Little. It was a really funny movie. The part I laughed the most at was when the baby alien sneezed and his fur went every which way and Chicken Little had to straighten him out. (It makes me smile to think about it even now.) I need to find a stuffed animal of him.

After the movie we met back up with Lee, Mindy and Jacob. I had tons of fun and I can say that was one of the best dates that I've been out on with a 5 year old in a LONG time. :)

On a side note... Happy Birthday to Alex who turns 5 this weekend!!!

Love to all.

Heather

Tattoos

Just thought I would share some pictures.

Here is my first tattoo I got over a year ago a few days before my 30th birthday...

It is about 3 to 4 inch around on my lower back. It is the symbol of Oroborus.

This is the one I just got this year before my birthday. This one is with gray and white ink. I wanted this one to be pale, just a ghost of an image on my back. This picture was taken when it was still healing so it looks a little sore. It is the symbol of the Moon Goddess. It is in between my shoulder blades.

: )

Heather

Happy Holidays

'I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy winter solstice festival of your ethnic/religious/secular choosing.'

Who knew saying Happy Holidays would cause a drama. It did at my work. A guy said it offended people and we should say Merry Christmas instead.

Speaking of the holidays how was it? I got myself a iMac (20 inch flat screen.) It is great. I will be posting pictures that I've taken from it soon. (It has a camera in it monitor) It is really neat. Dad got me a really professional pen tablet. SO hopefully I can do my comic strips better and more like the pros.

Shannon got me three books along with putting in some money for the computer. I got how to draw style books, one is Urban hip-hop culture, another is Fantasy and the last is an encyclopedia of clothing. Every type of clothing you can think of from capes to sleeves and so on. So far I've done some hip - hop girls which turned out really good and a dwarf. I've also been toying with a cat with walks to two feet. Pictures to be posted soon.

Mom got my some books. (it is sooooo cool knowing someone who works in the book biz) I got Ghost in the Shell novel and the second Vampire Hunter D novel.
I love them both. The Ghost the Shell is so well written. It is the Prequel to Ghost in the Shell: Innocence.

Out of all of my favorite animes, those two rank in the top 5 for me. All of the series of Ghost in the Shell and both Vampire Hunter D's are excellent. I'm so glad they are doing the novels now. There are going to be 13 Vampire Hunter D novels, and that is just amazing.

Anywhoo... I'm at home waiting for some guy at work to fix some defects so I can start my weekend. : P This really sucks. I've been online since 6. Grrrr....

Oh well.... After tonight I have to do a little more testing tomorrow from 7-10pm then I should be done for the weekend. My testing partner is logging in on Monday to do the rest. Isn't team work great.

Love to all.
Heather

Ok Here it is. . . .

After a lot of work. . . We all decided to join to see how much we could write. I couldn't use the novel I was currently working on so I started on Book Two. It was called Drucilla and Sylvain the Beautiful. I did pretty well. The rules state you can't use anything that is already written. The goal is to get 50,000 words in one month. By the end of the month I was at about 70+ pages with 25,700-ish words. So I was about 1/2 way there. . . not too bad.

November wasn't really a good month for me since work picked up a lot and Shannon was actually off school for those weeks. Oh well.

January starts our writers club again. Two friends and I have this writer's club we started. Each month on friday we get together and read and edit an excerpt of our novels.

Jenn is writing a fiction novel, kinda like Bridget Jones. Trish is writing a fiction novel that is kinda like Rocky Horror. And I am working on a fantasy novel, Dragonlance or Lord of the Rings-ish.

Jenn just started hers she is 18 pages into it. Trish is next with a bunch of pages. (She hasn't put page numbers on it yet so who knows how many pages it really is.) :) And I have 298 pages with my current story.

We have been meeting for about a year now, give or take a few months. I've been trying to do about 15-20 pages per month. I just finished the part that I had the hardest time on. (I had writer's block for a long time) I kept re-writing this one section over and over. Everything I wrote just didn't sound right. I finally changed my main character around and was able to write it. It was wonderful when they read the part. They laughed at the right time, they cried at the right time. . . EVERYTHING was just how I wanted it to be. I was so happy.

Now on to the rest of the novel. We are meeting again in January. I can't wait to get started again. After I get this comic finished I will start editing it again.

That is all for now.

Heather

Update on Comic

Here are some of the idea's I got from friends for the comic strip.

1.Like the Three Bears and have one that's just right.
2. Is this what they mean by "diversity"?
3. Guy with sunglasses and parasol walks up to the guy in the cube.
"Can we turn down the lights? It is too bright in here."
4.Corporate email; "Thermostats will be locked at 68-72 degrees, no matter what air temperature is at any point in the room and no matter how many times Facility Services adjusts them."
5.Corporate email: "Regarding recent complaints about Temperature control, all employees who are hot will be issued paper fans and all employees who are cold will be issued treadmills for their cubes."
6. Facility Services guy in uniform, tool belt and sweating just a little, "I'm with the guy in shorts! Running around adjusting the temperature all day keeps me plenty warm!"
7. "You must be from Canada?"
8.Wow that hypnosis therapy really works... were looking for our next victim... hmmm I mean volunteer.
9. Then the guy in the cube recommends everyone call the help desk and have a problem ticket opened for each of them.
10. Idea: Old-school single panel cartoon like from the New Yorker with two workers in parkas and third in shorts and tropical shirt. Quote "There goes Joe - he still thinks he is in the islands on vacataion" or something like that.

I'm decided to do the 3 bears idea. : )

It needs to be done by the 20th so I should have it posted soon.

Heather

Help with Punchline

Hello Folks.

I'm having a problem with my next comic strip. I just started going back to school. I'm at a new college called Columbus College of Art and Design. And I'm really enjoying it. When I walk around on the campus I don't feel out of place. It is wonderful. The first class I took was a figure drawing class which was great. I improved greatly over the twelve week class. I will post a picture once I get it scanned. (Warning: Nude Models!)

My second class was called Focus on Photoshop. I just finished the last class, last night. I liked the class but there were a few problems with it. First of all it was in a tiny room, with about 20 Macs in it. And I found that the sound of all the hard drives made me feel ill. At first I didn't know what it was. I just knew after every class I felt like I was going to be sick. (Flu like symptoms every night after the class) I solved that by putting cotton in my ears. The second problem is everyone in the class is older like Grandma age. And they aren't very good with the mouse let alone the computer. So I spend half my time helping the person next to me catch up. I feel I learned a few helpful things but nothing that was worth the cost of the class.

I'm going to try and enroll as a student, instead of a continuing education student in the next semester. A first year student has to buy their supplies from the school and it is ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!! I couldn't
believe it when I saw it the book. Whooo doggies.

I will need to have a portfolio to enroll. I think I will put a few of the pictures from my figure drawing class in it along with some of the comic strips I'm doing for work. I will get them posted soon too.

Shannon took the period off. I'm so glad he did too. He was worn down and needed the break. He is going to Keller for his Masters.

That is about it for now.

Love Heather

Quick Note

Hello All!

Just a quick note to say hello.

This is my new blog.
